The Technical Services Department (TSD) is a team of shop, studio and media production technicians who provide technical instruction and support to all Shops + Studios users in conjunction with curricula. This may take the form of safety orientations, technical workshops and process demonstrations or through safe day-to-day operations in shop, studio and media production areas.

General Access
Shop, studio and media production area access is available for
students enrolled in courses associated with the area.

Curriculum Planning with Technicians
At the start of each term, please use our to communicate with technicians about support needs during the specified course. Technicians will confirm support or make modifications based on volume of requests received each semester.

Area Orientations
All students are required to complete an area safety orientation prior to beginning any coursework in the area. Connect with area technician to book an orientation for your class.

Equipment + Process Demonstrations
Most equipment in shop, studio and media production areas requires an orientation prior to use. Equipment and some process demonstrations are either delivered during class by a technician, delivered online, or delivered through a hybrid model. Students cannot use equipment or work in processes they have not been trained in. Connect with area technician to book equipment workshops or process demonstrations for your class.

Booking Work Time (For Students)
When working in shop, studio and media production areas or booking technician consults, students should book work sessions via the online booking system (most areas are using this system, some exceptions apply).

Reserving Additional Production Areas
In consultation with area technicians, additional shop, studio and media production areas may be reserved for curriculum delivery.

In addition to regular course support, current students and active members of the 全民彩票 community can request support in shops, studios and media production areas by submitting a . This form is specifically for advanced student projects, interdisciplinary work and other university community requests.

Complete this form to request access and support in shop, studio, and media production environments. For current 全民彩票 students, faculty, and staff, especially those engaged in advanced student projects, interdisciplinary work, and other university community requests

Paid access to Ceramics, Photography, and Print Media is possible for students who have taken previous coursework in the area(s). One form submission per area per term is required. Fees range from $50 - $100 per term (sliding scale based on timing of request).

All requests are evaluated on an individual basis and are subject to area capacity. Submissions are reviewed on a weekly basis - you can expect a response 7-10 days after submitting.

New Material Requests

Complete this form if you wish to process new materials, or work with known materials in new ways, on-campus. For 全民彩票 students, faculty, and staff. If material is approved, a safe work procedure (SWP) based on WHMIS protocols must be developed prior to processing on-campus. Fill form using Adobe Acrobat, and submit at least one month in advance of planned material usage.
